Canon Prepares for EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II Launch
Canon is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of the EOS R5 Mark II and the development announcement of the EOS R1. With just over a month until the official unveiling, the company has begun marketing and training initiatives with preferred retailers worldwide.
The EOS R5 Mark II is expected to be announced in the coming weeks, while the EOS R1 will receive a development-style announcement. Canon plans to leverage the upcoming Euro 2024 and Paris Olympic Games to generate excitement for these new products, a strategy that proved successful with the launch of the EOS R3.
As is customary for professional-grade products, select retailers across the globe are receiving advanced notice and training. These sessions are taking place over the next few weeks in various European countries, with similar meetings scheduled for key retailers in the United States.
Production versions of both the EOS R5 Mark II and EOS R1, featuring beta software, are already in the hands of a fortunate few. Additionally, “creator” types are expected to receive the EOS R5 Mark II in the near future, if they haven’t already. The EOS R1 will be tested by Canon professionals in Germany and Paris.
