Confirmed ! Canon EOS R5 Mark II will be Announced in April (Also EOS R1 Development Announcement)
According to CR, they have just confirmed that the long awaited Canon EOS R5 Mark II will be finally announced in April 2024. And during the same time, Canon will also announce the development of the flagship EOS R1.
In the RF lens lineup, Canon will likely announce both an RF 28mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 lens (it’s unclear whether it will have Canon’s premium “L” designation) and the RF 35mm f/1.2L USM around the same time, potentially alongside the launch of the EOS R5 Mark II camera.
Additionally, Canon is expected to announce the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z telephoto zoom lens before July 2024. This lens will feature an internal zoom mechanism and the same power zoom capability seen on the recent RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z standard zoom.
On the cinema camera front, Canon will unveil successors to both its C300 and C500 camera lines ahead of the IBC trade show in September. Both the C300 and C500 product families will reportedly receive new naming schemes and come equipped with RF lens mounts to match Canon’s mirrorless EOS R system.
Stay tuned for more details on these anticipated Canon announcements as launch dates draw nearer.
