Canon Rumored to Release a New f/2 Zoom Lens in the First Half of 2024

According to recent rumors, Canon is reportedly preparing to launch a second RF mount f/2 zoom lens as a complement to the highly acclaimed RF 28-70mm f/2L USM. Although the precise focal length of this rumored lens remains unknown, sources suggest that it will likely be released sometime in the first half of 2024.

Obtaining specific timelines for upcoming Canon lenses can be quite challenging. The availability of high-end lenses such as the RF 135mm f/1.8L IS USM and RF 100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM has been a struggle for Canon, leaving photographers wanting. The reasons behind these delays are currently unclear. While it’s essential for Canon to continue announcing new products, they must also ensure their capacity to meet demand within the first few months after release.

Expectations are set for the announcement of 2-3 lenses in the fourth quarter of 2023, although it’s difficult to predict which ones will be unveiled. While Canon recognizes the desire for new additions to the L series lens lineup, there is also anticipation for at least one high-end RF-S lens release before the year concludes.
