Updated Rumored Canon RF & RF-S Lenses in 2023 to 2024
According to CR, Canon is expected to announce a significant number of new lenses between now and March 2024. Below is the updated RF & RF-S lens roadmap:
RF-S Lenses:
- RF-S 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM – An APS-C ultra wide-angle zoom lens, building off the well-regarded EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM.
- RF-S super telephoto zoom – A lightweight, compact super telephoto zoom lens for APS-C cameras. The focal range is still unknown.
- RF-S fast prime – Potentially an RF-S version of the EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM prime lens.
RF lenses:
- TS-R 14mm f/4L and TS-R 24mm f/3.5L – Autofocus tilt-shift ultra wide-angle lenses, possibly launching alongside the EOS R5 Mark I. A 50mm focal length is also a possibility.
- RF 24mm f/1.4L USM and RF 35mm f/1.2 or f/1.4L USM – Fast wide-angle primes.
- RF 200-500mm f/4L IS USM – A super telephoto zoom likely coming after Canon has ramped up production of the RF 100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM.
- RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM (internal zoom) – An internal-zooming version of the 70-200 f/2.8 zoom, potentially releasing with the EOS R1 in 2024.
- RF 10-24mm f/4L USM – An L-series ultra wide-angle zoom.
Additional lenses like another VR lens, non-L zooms and primes are also in development but unconfirmed. While Canon’s lens announcements seem slower than competitors, the company likely has an exciting roadmap ahead in 2023 and 2024.
