Canon EOS R7 Mark II Delayed Until 2026
Canon enthusiasts hoping for a new EOS R7 in 2025 will have to wait longer. The highly anticipated Canon EOS R7 Mark II has been confirmed for release sometime in the first half of 2026, not this year as many expected.
This delay comes as Canon focuses on launching the EOS R6 Mark III, which will be announced on November 6, 2025, and begins shipping November 20. The company appears to be following its typical pattern of releasing full-frame cameras first, then concentrating on APS-C models in separate cycles.
Canon has several announcements planned for late November, but these are expected to focus exclusively on new lenses for the EOS R system rather than camera bodies.
The earliest potential reveal for the R7 Mark II could coincide with the CP+ trade show in Yokohama, Japan, beginning February 25, 2026. However, with Canon’s Cinema EOS C50 launching in December and the tight scheduling around the R6 Mark III release, March 2026 seems more realistic for the R7 Mark II announcement.
This timing suggests 2026 will be Canon’s year for APS-C sensor camera launches, giving the company space to properly focus on each product line.
