Canon is set to shake up the mirrorless camera market with the Canon EOS R6 V. Positioned as a video-centric powerhouse designed to directly rival the Nikon ZR, this full-frame camera departs radically from traditional hybrid designs. Expected to launch at roughly $2,500 / €2,500, it brings professional, cinema-focused architecture to a highly portable form factor.

Video-First Design

To cater directly to videographers, Canon has removed the Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) entirely, integrating an active cooling system in its place. This trade-off results in a shorter, thicker body weighing just 598g. Despite its compact size, it boasts incredible internal recording capabilities, including 7K RAW and Open Gate (3:2) RAW video, high frame rates up to 4K at 119.9fps, and built-in Canon Log 2/3.

Photographic Power

While built for video, the R6 V doesn’t compromise on stills. Driven by a DIGIC X processor, its 32.5MP full-frame sensor retains a fully mechanical shutter. This setup allows for blistering continuous shooting speeds up to 40fps, complete with a 20-shot pre-continuous buffer.
