RF 45mm f/1.2 STM & RF 20-50mm f/4 PZ Leaked in Canon Suvery Form
A recent Canon Rumors forum post revealed a feedback form from a Canon event, showcasing two unreleased lenses: the Canon RF 45mm F1.2 STM and the Canon RF 20-50mm F4 PZ. The RF 45mm F1.2 STM is particularly interesting, as it lacks the “L” designation, suggesting a fast, lightweight prime lens that wouldn’t directly compete with Canon’s existing RF 50mm F1.2L USM and RF 50mm F1.4L VCM lenses. This would bring the total of lenses around the 50mm focal length to four, including the RF 50mm F1.8 STM.
The RF 20-50mm F4 PZ lens is speculated to be for full-frame RF mount cameras. This wouldn’t be Canon’s first power zoom lens; the RF-S 14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ was launched with the APS-C EOS R50. An optical design patent for an RF 20-50mm F4 PZ has also been seen. Canon has announcements scheduled for November 16 and November 26, 2025, for cameras and lenses, respectively.
Lens roadmaps and predictions for 2025 suggest Canon may be planning several new RF lenses. The RF 45mm F1.2 STM is especially intriguing due to its unusual focal length, speed, and focus motor. It remains to be seen if these lenses will materialize, but their appearance on the survey form suggests a potential shift towards smaller, non-L lenses, as seen with the RF 28-70mm F2.8 IS STM.
